Andersons Returns amount to £ 7. 2. 10¼ Page 3 SOUTH CAROLINA Pursuant to an ACT of the GENERAL ASSEMBLY passed the 16th of March, 1783, We, the COMMISSIONERS of the Treasury, have this Day delivered to Mr. Abel Kendrick this our INDENTED CERTIFICATE, for the Sum of Seven pounds two shillings and ten pence farthing Sterling due in Brandons Regiment A/Audited
the said Abel Kendricks his Executors, Administrators, or Assigns, will be entitled to receive from this Office the Sum of nine shillings and eleven pence on the demand for one Year’s Interest on the principal Sum of Seven pounds two shillings and ten pence farthing and the like interest annually The said Abel Kendricks his Executors, Administrators, or Assigns, will be entitled also to receive, and shall be paid if demanded the principal Sum of Seven pounds two Shillings and ten pence farthing on 30 May 178? [9] And the said Abel Kendrick his Executors, Administrators, Assings, may make any Purchase at any Public Sales of Confiscated property, (except such as shall be ordered by the legislature for Special Purposes;) and this INDENT shall be received in Payment. For the true Performance of the several Payments in manner above-mentioned, the PUBLIC TREASURY is made liable, and the FAITH of the STATE pledged by the aforesaid ACT. WILLIAM KENDRICK - Last Will and Testament I William Kendrick of the County of Jasper and State of Missouri being of sound mind and in this the seventy-first year of my age, do hereby make and publish this my last Will and Testament as follows to wit: First I will and devise that after my just debts (if any there may be that shall remain unpaid) be satisfied - my beloved wife, Elizabeth H. Kendrick - should she in the Kind Providence of God be spared to survive me - take hold and enjoy during the remainder of her natural life, all my property - real, personal and mixed - of every description and kind, embracing my Houses, barns, lands and tenements, whatsoever; also, all live-stock, Household and Kitchen Furniture, all Clothing, Clothes, Wares and merchandise monies, dues, and in short all my earthly possessions and effects whatsoever, all of which I do hereby will and bequeath to my said wife, for the time and in the manner aforesaid Provided, however, that my Executor, hereinafter named, may superintend and direct the management of my said property, for the purposes and to the use above - name - and take care of and direct the management of my farms, stock and other property as his judgment may dictate, and in as nearly the same manner as in now being done as possible. Second Whereas, my only son, Joshua D.P. Kendrick, has already received from me, proper and valuable advancements during my lifetime, of monies and property, I deem no further provision for him herein necessary: except that I do hereby give and bequeath all such advancements to my said son and especially the sum of Five Hundred and Seventy Dollars, which said sum, my son aforesaid is now justly owing me, were I disposed to exact the same of him. Third I will and bequeath, on the death of my wife, above named, unto my beloved daughter, Elvira B. Kendrick, wife, of my said only son, Joshua D.P. Kendrick, and to their heirs begotten of their two bodies, all my said property, as above, absolutely; to her and to her heirs aforesaid, after her, to hold and enjoy the same, and everything thereto pertaining forever - and in case my said wife should not survive me, as intimated above, then all my property aforesaid to descend to and best in the said Elbira B. Kendrick, and the said heirs of the said Elvira B. and Joshua D.P. Kendrick absolutely in the same manner as above. Fourth I do hereby revoke all former will, by me heretofore made: and I do also hereby appoint my affectionate son, Joshua D.P. Kendrick sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament; and I do hereby more fully direct and request that my said son and Executor, shall, after my death, as now have the management of my property, during the lifetime of my said wife, to her use and have full power and authority to sell and dispose of all products, profits, and increase of my said property or make such other dispositions of the same, as he may deem best and Expedient and to collect all rents and other monies on things arising from said property; and all other things in anywise necessary to the proper carrying into effect and operation this my said last Will and Testament and that he shall occupy my mansion-house, in conjunction with his said mother; and in short it is my desire and will that all things pertaining my to my said Estate should go forward, and my family remain situated as now; and for his services, aforesaid, I desire that my said son and Executor shall receive a liberal compensation therefore. In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal, this 24th day of January in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty- Seven. William Kendrick {Seal} We attest the above and foregoing Will by subscribing our names hereto as witnesses in the presence of William Kendrick, the testator, and in the presence of each other, this 24th day of January, A.D. 1867 Henry S. Foote Be in remembered that on this 9th day of September 1868 personally appeared in open Court Henry S. Foote and M.G. McGregor the subscribing witnesses of the annexed will of William Kendrick and being first duly sworn depose and say that the said William Kendrick the testator subscribed the same in their presence and published the said Will or instrument of writing as his last will that the said testator was at the time of publishing his said will of sound mind and more than twenty one years of age and that they the said deponents attested the said Will as witnesses thereto by subscribing their names to the same in the presence of the said testator.
